This is a great early and rare solid mahogany medical cabinet. It resembles an 18th century New Hampshire Highboy with the legs and carvings. My guess is it came from a thriving city back in the day that had more access to more modernized machines. The drawers are dovetailed but appear to be machine dovetailed. The piece is in overall good condition but does have some flaws. The finish needs to be cleaned better but I did not want to clean it with anything other than just soap and water to primitive damaging the surface. There are a few chips in the wood that can be seen in photos. The top finial has some damage to it. The middle compartment has been opened in a way that busted the corner piece of wood. My guess as to why this happened was that the door was locked and someone lost the key and this was the only way to get into the compartment. There was a locking mechanism inside that compartment that locked all the doors but has been altered to allow most of the drawers to open. Two are stuck shut because the locking is still engaged on those. The rest of the drawers work fine. One back leg has an old repair on it that is stable.
*I have more photos of this piece just ask I am unable to upload all photos.
